It is important to receive a yearly contact lens exam. California Law requires contact lens prescriptions to expire in 1 year. We have a variety of contact lens options for you. We typically can give you a pair of contact lenses with your exam that day, and if it is a specialty contact lens, we can order it for you. We carry the most up-to-date contact lenses that have high oxygen breathability for your eyes and moistness for comfort. Come on in and ask Dr. Kwak today!
The purpose of dilating our eyes is to look further in to the back of the eye where the blood vessels, nerves, and retina are. It is a more thorough health exam that is typically required/recommended by primary care providers for diabetic patients. We are able to detect many more eye diseases with this extra procedure. It is recommended to receive an eye dilation yearly by the Board of Optometry. There are some precautions prior and after this procedure, so discuss with Dr. Kwak prior to deciding if you’d like this procedure performed on your eyes.
Sometimes, changes can be seen in your eyes due to undetected high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes. We also do glaucoma and cataract screenings. Many eye diseases go undetected because patients don’t notice any symptoms, so please come in for your yearly eye exam to maintain and monitor your eye health.
Dr. Kwak is able to treat red eyes due to overwear of contact lenses, eye infections, or small foreign bodies entering the eye. She can treat many red eyes by prescribing antibiotic drops. If your condition is advanced and beyond her care, she will refer you to someone who will be able to help you.
It is always important to receive a yearly eye exam. This way we can make gradual changes in your prescription instead of big jumps. Big jumps in prescription can cause dizziness and a few more days in adapting to your glasses. Small gradual changes are always more comfortable. We have many frames and lens options to choose from.
Because children grow quickly in their childhood and teen years, it is common for them to have rapid changes in their vision and eyeglass prescriptions. Oftentimes, children don’t tell their parents they need new glasses. It is important for us to maintain an accurate prescription for them yearly so they do well in school.
